Godematics

From God's book of Godematics:
Check Spelling

At any given time on earth,

The number of trees + the number of humans = constant*

*This is the theory of equilibrium. The entities mentioned above cannot survive without each other.

Like the retailers, God played a trick on mankind, when he changed the font size of the "conditions apply".

So wake up, its not too late!!

The sentence.

It was evening again. Like every day, he entered the lounge. The corner seat was reserved for him. The manager and the waiters smiled at him as he walked by. He nodded his head in response to every smile that was flashed at him and headed straight for the seat. The beauty of this seat was that you had a great view of the whole place. The bar, the big screen television, the band that was playing and more importantly the door. The door!
He took his seat and switched off his cell phone. He didn’t want to be disturbed or distracted. He flipped open his cigarette case and lit a Marlboro. The smoke felt good. It soothed him. Calmed him.
“The usual sir?” his regular waiter was standing next to him.
He nodded his head in reply and within minutes a double scotch was placed in front of him. He took a sip and the neat scotch burned his throat. He could feel the warmth spreading in his body. He took a drag, stubbed out the cigarette and lit another one. A few more sips of the scotch and he was transported back in time.

“You have changed,” she said.

“What makes you feel so?” he asked her never once taking his eyes off the computer screen.

“You always had time for me earlier. Now, all you run after is money. Do you know how many days have passed since we even had a decent conversation?”

“I am doing all this for you. Remember the college days when I had to borrow money to take you out to dinner. I will make you so rich that we will never have to think twice about anything in life. ”

“When did you last take me out to dinner?”

“We are going to be together all our lives. I can take you to dinner every night once we get rich. We are already halfway there, but I want to earn more.”

“It’s been three years and this is all I am hearing. You never have time for me. I am running out of patience.”

He took his eyes off the screen and looked at her. “Patience! Don’t over react. I am doing all this for you. For us! What am I going to do with all the money? It is for you that I am slogging so hard.”

“I don’t need the money. Isn’t what we have now enough for us? Why don’t you understand? You are drifting away.”

“No, I am not. You are drifting away. You are always complaining. Now go to sleep and let me do my work.”

“Ok. But remember, you will regret this. You will be repentant about all the time that you have lost out on. We have lost out on! You will realize this when I am not around any longer.”

“Don’t preach! You are always going to be around. We will have the most luxurious life. You will love it.”

“It’s been eight years since you know me and sometimes I feel that you still don’t know me.”

He saw her walking out of the room. For a moment he thought of stopping her, but then decided against it. He was back to his computer screen. Back to money!

-----------

This was his sentence. He was living it every day. He was missing her. All the money he had was no good. He wiped his eyes and emptied his third drink of the night. As he got up to leave, he glanced at the door for the last time that night. He could still see her walking in through that door.

It was the same door where they had bumped into each other ten years ago.

House to home in 140 minutes

Note: The sole intention of this post is to record my drive from Pune to Mumbai. So, if you are looking for anything interesting to read, proceed at your own risk!!

Last week I decided to drive down to Mumbai on my bike. For people who don’t know, I own a Yamaha Gladiator RS. This drive came as a relief to my bike, which was waiting for an opportunity to prove itself for some while. I didn’t want to risk driving on our famous highways after dark (which is when the devils have their headlights aimed at your eyes to blind you (Indian drivers are pathetic and are blessed with zero traffic ethics)). So, morning it was!! One of my office colleagues decided to be the pillion (this guy is relatively new in office and he isn’t aware of my driving skills (fyi, none of my friends want to be around me when I drive. As per them I drive too fast and too rash, which I feel is an exaggeration sparked by jealousy)). I tanked up the bike, got the air pressures right and also got the brakes tightened.

Next morning, I hit the road with my 125 cc machine at exactly 6:55 a.m. It was chilly and I cursed myself for not donning my jacket. Nonetheless it is such a pleasure to drive early in the morning. The empty streets, cool breeze and sparse traffic give you a much-needed kick, which plays an important role in lengthy drives. At exactly 7:05, I picked up my pillion. Since both of us had our own bags, we were a little cramped up. But this was soon forgotten as we hit NH4.
Very soon we reached the Pune Expressway diversion. I cursed the Babus for not allowing bikes on the expressway. Driving a bike on the expressway from Pune to Mumbai is something I have always dreamt of, but I guess it will never happen. We crossed the diversion and were still on NH4. The old highway as it is called seemed very well maintained too. The traffic was sparse and the road was good. This was all I needed to break free. A slight move of the fingers on the throttle and we were cruising at 80-90 kmph. The winding roads gave me a feeling of playing Roadrash and I enjoyed it immensely.

Exactly at 7:50 we stopped at Ramkrishna restaurant in Lonavala. A light breakfast accompanied by tea was all I needed to refresh myself. The usual smoke did its job too. We were back on the road at 8:10. My colleague guided me to the stretch of road where the Old Highway is the expressway. As soon as I hit this patch, it was like driving in a football field. The expressway is hugeee, and when you are on a bike, it seems bigger. I enjoyed the stretch, which was full of steep curves and turns. Soon the expressway was history and we were back on NH4.

At exactly 9:10, we reached Panvel. Since my colleague stays in Panvel, we decided to take a short break. The crowd at this stop was awesome and my colleague boasted of his knowledge about it.“I made you stop here to check out the crowd.” he beamed. We were back on the road at 9:20 and I dropped him at his house at 9:25. I was in Panvel and my bike was now a good 80-85 kgs lighter. It felt as if my bike was on fire. We lit up the streets, zoomed and zapped and I was at home in Vashi by 9:45.
I raced up the stairs, when fatigue hit me and I realized that my body was a numb of all the driving. But this lasted only for thirty minutes after which I was back to normal.

All I have to say is that everyone needs to try out this drive atleast once. Its awesome!!
