Strange but true

My phone rings..I am in a meeting.. Its my dad.

I move out of the conference room and answer the call..

"Yes Papa"

"Hold on for a minute.."

The next moment I hear a lady's voice "Hello"

"Hello"

"Whom am I speaking to Sir?"

I am puzzled.. "This is here"

"May I know your full name Sir"

Its getting weirder by the second.. I blabber out my full name ""

"Thank you Sir, I am XYZ from ICICI bank. Your dad here is holding a cheque issued by you"

"Yes..So?"

"Do you know the amount on the cheque?"

"No madam..but the person I just spoke to IS my dad, so whatever the amount please process the cheque."

"Sir, you have to confirm the amount on the cheque, or else I wont be able to process it"

"I am not aware of the amount Madam.. please process the cheque..My account number is blah..."

"Sir, For the your information the amount on the cheque is XXX. Should I process it?"

"YES MADAM. PLEASE DO SO!!"

"Ok Sir."

I am now waiting for my dad to come on the phone..

"Click!" The line goes dead the next minute. The call has been disconnected.

I am all smiles..I shrug my shoulders and rejoin the meeting.

Nasal Septoplasty

“What is that?” he asked as the needle was thrust into his arm.

It all happened too fast. The overhead lights became blurry. With the liquid traveling fast in his veins, he could feel the force… he began to drift away..the tension evaporated..the fear was gone…he was asleep.

It wasn’t deep sleep, as he could still hear voices around him. Voices that were saying something, which his brain couldn’t process..but he could definitely hear them.

He could feel their hands on him, but somehow he couldn’t summon the strength to do anything about it. His body was limp…his arms and feet lifeless. Subconsciously he tried to raise his arm, but it didn’t move an inch..what the heck!! He drifted back into his slumber…

Voices again… louder this time…garbled sounds…sleep…

A sudden jolt of pain ripped apart his thoughts…on instinct, his eyes opened in a flash…but the very next moment he was forced to shut them due to the screaming lights.. wtf is going on…

“Relax….” It was loud and clear…as if a haze had lifted.

“I need to relax…calm down…slow down…easy…” but the pain persisted…he wasn’t even sure, which part of his body the pain had originated from…but he was still limp…all his efforts were in vain..his arms refused to move..

Suddenly….his mind burst….there was another jolt…worse than the previous one…the pain was unbearable….even under the sedative’s effect his body shuddered.. he could feel powerful hands gripping him..to hold him steady..

Again it hit him…..and again…and again….till he could bear no more….he wanted to sleep..he wanted to pass out… he wanted the pain to end…but his body was stuck in this suspended state..

“Breathe…” someone shouted…He tried desperately to ..but could not feel his nose…

“Breathe!!!!” he tried hard….but still no nose…no air…nothing going into his lungs…

“Can you hear me..?? Breathe through your mouth…MOUTH!” she shouted…He could feel a sting on his face…someone had slapped him…

“Mouth???” He opened his mouth and sucked in….the air went in…it calmed his lungs..Involuntarily he exhaled through his nose…but..the air seemed to be stuck inside…where the heck was his nose!!!!!

He opened his mouth again and the air escaped…”MOUTH….MOUTH…..MOUTH…” he reminded himself…and passed out.

Little did he know that this was just the beginning…of the PAIN!!
