The quest for a view

My last stint in Chitkul where I witnessed the Milky Way Galaxy in its full glory had left me wanting for more of the stars. In Chitkul, I had travelled as a tourist, stayed in a hotel stepping down in the night to capture the sky. My wife being an avid trekker used to keep boasting about the clear skies and stars during her treks. "You will have to go beyond the towns and villages to see the stars shine brighter".

I have never been a trek person, I am fit enough to climb mountains, but I value a hot shower and a cosy bed every night. Hence, I never joined her for any treks. However, this time I decided, that enough is enough and I need to try it out. So, i started researching about treks which offer good sky views starting January. While researching I hit upon this lovely trek in GHNP called Rangthar-Marahni. That is when it struck me. Last time I was in Tirthan, I showed the Chitkul milky way snap to a trek guide. He laughed and said "Agar taare dekhne hai sir to Ranghtar aao". The more I read about the trek and what it offered, the more I was hooked.

I called up Butts and asked him if wanted to join. He gave the same reply as every year "Aana to hai mereko yaar, but dekhna padega". However, after a few calls and back n forth conversations, he decided to join me. "Last minute kalti mat dena" I told him.

We selected 3 nights in May around the new moon. It was going to be a total of 6 days for us.

Day1: Fly to Chandigarh, travel to Tirthan and stay overnight in a hotel.

Day2: Start the trek, spend the night in Rangthar

Day3: Trek and cross Kundri, reach Marahni base camp.

Day4: Summit Marahni peak, start the descent and spend the night at Rangthar.

Day5: Back to the hotel by evening.

Day6: Travel back to Chandigarh and fly back home.

I called up Pankaj Sood, our trusted friend and advisor in the Tirthan Valley to book the rooms and trek for us. He was happy to hear back from me as I have been visiting Tirthan every year during summer. He was excited about the choice of our trek but also gave me a warning that it is a relatively tough trek. We had 2 months to prepare, so I was confident that we will be able to train hard and prepare ourselves.

This is what signed up for

Butts booked the air tickets and now there was no looking back. The trip was confirmed. We were going to go for sure!! Woohoooo!!

Day 1

We had the usual inevitable hiccups that are associated with such trips. Just a week before leaving, Butts fell ill. He started an antibiotic course which helped him recover from the fever and body pains, but his cough didn’t get well. Somehow, he had the josh and that helped him take a leap of faith to go ahead with the trip.

We started the trip on Thursday morning. We reached Pune airport at 5.45, where I was met with a pleasant surprise. Buts had upgraded the tickets to Premium Economy. I am generally thrifty as compared to Butts who is usually more lavish. The “Premium” tickets came with extra leg room and excellent breakfast within the flights. Luckily the flights were on time too and we reached Chandigarh at 1.00 pm.

At the Pune Airport in the morning

Our cab driver was waiting for us, and we started our road journey without any further delay. Google maps showed the journey to be 6 hours, but the driver that we would take 8 as the roads near Tirthan were not good. We passed by fields of gold in Punjab, what a magnificent plateau. Had lunch at Manjeet’s which is a popular eatery and proceeded to Himachal. The landscape changed as we entered the new state. The never-ending plateau gave way to tall peaks, gorgeous valleys and winding roads. We crossed Sunder Nagar and Mandi and turned right for Tirthan. So far, we were doing good on time, and I was hopeful of reaching the hotel by 7, but as we left the NH, the roads became extremely bad. There were places where our driver struggled to get the car going on steep ascents due to many potholes. Plus, it started getting dark, so we proceeded slowly with caution and finally reached our destination “Gushaini” at 8.15 pm. The first thing that greeted us was the cool breeze which was a delightful change, the second was the gurgling Tirthan river next to the property. I was super happy.

We were greeted at the hotel by Panki bhai, who gave us instructions about the trek prep and assigned us a cosy room. There was an amazing dinner buffet, which we hogged like pigs. Panki bhai’s place has the most delicious meals. The kitchen is overseen by her wife who ensures that they serve only quality hot fresh Indian food.

Panki gave us another pleasant surprise when he announced that we would be accompanied by Sanchit, an avid photo/videographer who would capture the moments of the trek and convert it into a promotional youtube video for the upliftment of tourism in the area.

The hotel manager came and checked our trek stuff that we had to carry the next day. He gave us a thumbs up after going through all details. We retired to bed early, as a long day awaited us tomorrow.

Day 2

We woke up to the chirping of birds in the morning and soaked in the river view, the tall mountains and the fresh unpolluted morning air. We had piping hot breakfast which again was amazing where we met Sanchit. He came across as a jolly, smart guy who had relocated to Tirthan from Indore a couple of years back. Post breakfast we got ready to leave for the trek by 9.45. Our guide was Hardesh Kumar already ready too with his crew. There were a total of 9 men to accompany us. They would be carrying tents, food, and other gear needed for survival in the wild.

Ready to roll..

We got into a mini truck and set off for Pekhri which we reached around 10.45. Just for reference Pekhri is situated at 2100m above sea level. Our goal for the day was to reach Rangthar which is a meadow on top of a mountain perched at 2900m. One the way we would cross Lakcha village which is approximately at 2500m. This is where we would have lunch.

We started the ascent slowly and steadily. Stone steps laid out by villagers gave way to rocky trails and every 15 mins the landscape started getting better. We crossed fields, apple orchards, apricot trees and took breaks to soak in the views. There was only one distant mountain with slow covered peaks that was visible from here. It was looking breathtaking even from a distance, I secretly wished that we would go closer towards it during the next two days.

Halfway up, we enjoyed packed lunch at the lakcha village after which the trail got steeper. The sky was overcast, the wind was howling and we could see rain clouds following us. However barring a few drops here and there, it didn’t rain much. Sanchit was leaving no stone unturned to capture our ascent and the views around us with his mirrorless DSLR. I was worried that if the sky didn’t clear up, we would not be able to see the stars that night.

We reached the Rangthar campsite around 4.30pm and I was mesmerized by the view from there. Though it was still overcast and the temperature was under 10 degrees, the visibility was ok and we could see the GHNP snow mountains in full glory. We just sat there admiring the beauty for the next hour or so while the crew set up the tents and served hot tea and maggi. By 6pm by the grace of God, the sky started clearing up and by 7pm there was not a single cloud. It was totally clear; we were in for a treat!! Such is the unpredictability of the mountains; no one knows how the weather will behave after 4 hours.

As the sun set, first Venus and then Jupiter came into full view. Shining bright, making their presence felt in the other naked sky. We finished our dinner in a hurry to ensure that we were fully prepared to enjoy the stars. By 9 pm, we could see a million stars and by 10pm we could see a gazillion. But the star of the show “The milky way” was not visible yet. Using the sky guide app, we came to know that we would get a good view post 11 pm, so we stayed awake, bantering away, killing time and enjoying the sky.

Around 11, we saw the faint outline of the cloudy milky way galaxy. by 11.30, it was up in its full glory, but I was not very happy as there was ambient light due to the villages below. Due to which, the view was slightly hazy. However, we clicked pictures using our iPhone and Sanchit’s DSLR. The photos came out to be terrific though (despite the ambient light). Around 12 we retired to our tents, snug into our sleeping bags looking forward to the next day.

Surprise visitor to our camp was a white-tailed fox, who observed us from a distance and then ran away.

 Day 3

Clear sky, crisp mountain air, dew on the grass awaited us the next morning. What a fantastic view to and feeling to wake up to. Today was going to be the toughest day of the trek. We had to make it to Marahni campsite which is at 3500m. On the way we would have to cross the Kundri Peak which is at 3350 feet, then descent a bit into the Kundir meadow and go uphill again.

Clear morning sky at Rangthar

Clear morning sky at Rangthar

We started early, by 8.30 to make the most of the gentle morning sun (before it turned harsh). The ascent was steep right from the start, but we covered good ground. Butts was in high spirits today, challenging himself to do better than the previous day. Slowly we grinded our way to the top. Progress was slow, but we were not worried about time, so we took It easy. Two hours into the trek we reached the Kundri top from where the view of the Tirthan valley was mesmerizing. Post that we had to walk through a fairy tale like oak forest towards the Kundri meadow. The air was much cooler here, though there was ample sunshine.

We stopped for having our packed lunch after crossing the Kundir meadow on a ridge which provided amazing views all around. Post lunch, the weather suddenly changed and it became overcast with a light drizzle. Though the rain wasn’t enough to make us wet, the accompanying cold breeze was spine chilling. Finally after an arduous journey we reached the Marahni campsite around 3.30 pm.

Words cannot describe the view that lay infront of us, Gigantic snow lad Himalayan mountains stared us right in our face. Challenging us, humbling us! The wind was howling, the cold was bone freezing, there was some rain, but little did we care. What lay infront of us was stuff that dreams are made of. Raw naked pure nature!! We prayed for better weather while enjoying hot tea and bhajiyas. And again by 6 pm the Gods smiled and the sky changed. No clouds, no wind, wohooo!!!! Since we were dead tired by the tough ascent today, we decided to have dinner and retire early promising each other to wake up by 12 am to witness the milky way again.

Trrring-Tringgg-Tringgg…my alarm went off at 12 am. I woke Butts up and headed out of the tent to grab a view of the sky. What we saw that night, I have never seen in my life. No ambient light. Clear sky. End to End view of the fabulous milky way staring down at us. I was spellbound. I wanted to capture this moment and make it last forever. Butts was in the same zone. The temperature was sub zero, but we were in a hypnotized state.

Sanchit was not up yet, so we called out to him multiple times, but he seemed to be in deep sleep. The tripods and DSLR were with him. Stupid iphone doesn’t let you take a 30 second exposure without tripod. After trying to wake him up for few mins, we gave up. Gave the sky a good final look and went back to sleep.

Day 4 and 5.

Again, woke up to a crisp clear cloudless sky with the sun beating down on us at 6 am. Had quick breakfast. Today’s goal was to summit Marahni which is at 3700m and then start the descent to Rangthar campsite. The ascent to the peak was pretty steep and we had to zigzag our way carefully to the top. Progress was extremely slow and the air was thinner too. After around 90 mins or so, we reached the top.

Ready to Summit!!

Brilliant morning at Marahni camp

Brilliant morning at Marahni camp

So far, the trek had offered partial views of the peaks. From the top it was different. We had a complete 360-degree view of mountains all around us. GHNP peaks, Kobri, Tirth, Rakhundi on one side. Balasheh Pass on the other. Tirthan and Sainj valley mountains on the third and the snow-clad peaks of Manali on the fourth. This was too much for me, I didn’t know how to soak it in. Started feeling giddy, legs went weak, had a funny feeling in my stomach. “Is this real??” that was the constant thought in my head.

Butts declared that this was the most beautiful place he had been to in his life and let me tell you, Butts has been to New Zealand, Australia, USA, etc. Nothing comes close to the Himalayas. The grandeur, the sheer size, the expanse, it is surreal. Peak, after peak after peak, it was only the Himalayas, nothing else. We sat there for a good hour while Sanchit made some videos using the drone.

Around 11.30 we started our descent. This is when I realized that I am afraid of heights 😊. Progress was slow, the guide helped us a lot. After 45 mins or so, we were off the peak and back to the trails where it was easier to walk. Or we though so. The descent was brutal. We didn’t realize that it was this tough while going up, but no every step was a blow to the knees and toes. After countless steps and some missteps and with tired legs we reached Rangthar campsite again.

We airdropped photos and videos, chatted like crazy, had a fun dinner and slept off with a sense of achievement. Something that has been lacking in our lives for a while now. This summit was a big deal for Butts and me. I was so happy that everything turned out well.

Next morning, we trekked three hours to reach Pekhri and another hour to reach the hotel.

This is a lifetime memory; one we are proud of and we will cherish to the end of our days!

Heartfelt "thank you" to :

1.      Butts: for accompanying and fighting it out in the truest of spirits

2.      Our guides Hardesh and SherSingh: For assisting us when we acted like kids. The rest of the crew for spoiling us for choices by serving mouthh watering delicious food everytime and taking care of the tent logistics.

3.      Sanchit: for making it memorable by capturing our moments, we met as strangers and departed as friends.

4.      Panki Bhai for making all the arrangements

5.      Our respective better halves who supported us so that we could make this trip.

6.      The Gods for blessing us with good weather throughout

Purpose

 Bade hoke kya banoge beta?

Society ka shikaar maa!!

25 years of grind, entire youth gone, stuck with midlife crisis...is this what I wanted to become? They tricked me.

Had I known, would I have chosen the same path?

Chase money, my mind said when we didnt have enough. I was young, raw and I immersed myself into this goal. Day after day, month after month and year after year, I kept building...for my family, for myself. Lady luck was kind and I reached where we had enough sooner than expected.

Fulfilled every responsibility thrown my way, stood up after falling everytime, took every setback in my stride, but kept running...always running.

Now at 45, the mad chase is over. On the exterior, I am a successful person, have a great family, good name in the industry, fit as a fiddle. However on the inside, I lost myself somewhere along the way. I was always what the other person needed me to be...a son, a husband, a father, a boss, a friend. However, I have forgotten my identity, my singularity. Or did I never have one?

Idle time kills me, monotony bores me, daily chores frustrate me, i am alone in a crowd, i have stopped connecting to people, I have no hobbies, completely lost!

Well, would I want my kids to undergo the same grind? It is upto them, however I will try and impart the right lessons.

Purpose in life is the singular factor that beats everything else: money, fame, all riches on one side, purpose on the other.

Action plan:

0. Find the next purpose

1. Keep gymming

2. Keep listening to good music

3. Keep reading

4. Keep watching good shows.

5. Occasionally drinking (no binge drinking though)

6. Travel

7. Teach stuff to kids

8. Smile a lot

9. Love a lot

10. Dont judge

Making a difference

Few weeks back, he got a call from his cousin that their grandmother wasn’t feeling well. She was feeling anxious and sweating. They were on the way to the doctor’s.

He was in a different city, 3 hours away.

At that moment, he knew that if his grandmom survived the ordeal, he ll need to be be there and make a difference.

He made a difference for sure and felt proud of it.

However, in the larger scheme of the universe, it is a very small contribution, and he wasn’t sure if he should be taking credit for any of it.

Split between pride and humility, he gave up thinking about it. In a few weeks the feeling settled and his own anxiety was gone.

Death

 Death

Very strong feelings emerge when death is experienced from close quarters. Its been a while, however I am extremely disturbed and shocked today.

Just yesterday I came to know about the death of an ex colleague of mine.

He was roughly the same age as me. Stays two blocks away and we used to run into each other often. His kids go to the same school as my kids. Apparently, he celebrated the birthday of his elder son and went to sleep, never to wake up again. It was silent exit due to a heart attack. May his soul rest in peace.

When I heard about his death (it was at Angad's school event), I was perplexed, terrified, disturbed and sad at the same time. What made things worse was that his kids were right in front of me and they seemed unaffected by it. They are too young to comprehend the repercussions of this event in their lives. My heart goes out to them and I pray for the entire family.

How does this affect me? Old thoughts resurface, weird feeling in my head. What is most important in life? Is it the fancy house we stay in, or the fast car that I drive, or that upcoming promotion that I am bothered about? Nope, none of these...

Stay healthy, spend time with your loved ones, live each day as if it is your last...kal ho na ho...

Perspective

When it was raining heavily I was comforted by the shade of a tree..there were few drops still falling on me, but much lesser than the downpour surrounding us.
Once the rain stopped, the few drops accumalated on the leaves we're still falling on me, and suddenly it felt better to be out  in the open rather than under the tree. I quickly walked out.
It took but few moments for the perspective to change.
Such is life! Series of changes in perspective based on circumstances and our reactions to these changes.

The Agile Circus

Yes, we have been stupid enough to implement Agile!!
The Agile framework is supposed to make you faster. And the framework in itself is not bad. The problem lies in the definition itself. Agile on its own is just a set of loose guidelines that the organization needs to follow. However, the implementation of Agile is left purely to the organization.
In general Humans are not too good at interpreting loose guidelines and implementing them for success.
The most relevant examples being our religious scriptures, which are nothing but a set of guidelines which show you the right path. However everyone interprets them as per their will and the end result is casteism, terrorism, "my religion is the best" wars and what not.

Coming back to Agile! There is a PO-Product Owner, TO-Technical Owner, EM-Engineering Manager and SM-Scrum Master. Then there are scrums, sprints and rituals like daily standup meeting, sprint review, sprint demo, etc.
The PO is supposed to give the customer requirements. The TOs break these down into technical user stories which the FCT teams delivers sprint on sprint. The EM is supposed to be obstacle resolver and the SM are the ones who conduct the rituals so that the team stays on track.

Well, sounds easy and fun. Break down requirements, keep delivering them!

In our organization, the implementation is exactly opposite.
1. The PO is more interested in the day to day affairs of the Sprint deliverables and keeps on harping about the bandwidth wastage.
2. The EM is an all encompassing piece of shit role who has not work, but finds work by asking PO not to interfere in his affairs.
3. SMs are ones who are whiling away their time waiting to be laid off with 6 months of compensation.
4. TOs are not able to scale due to the sheer size of the team.

Then there are:
1. TLs who keep complaining about everything that they see
2. The mini EMs who are good for nothing but are only there to keep on following the main EMs instructions.
3. The FCTs which are empowered and abuse this to the fullest.
4. The executive layer at top which is hell bent on proving that we are still successful.

Life is full of BS!! So is our Agile implementation!!

Bhaag...bhai..bhaag

I was overweight in 2008, not by much though. I needed to be 65 but was 80. Most of these 15 kgs were the effect of moving to a new city and surviving on outside food..almost all of it junk. Those were the days when the thing missed most was food cooked by mom. The weight gain was gradual and I never realized it till one day someone very close to me called me "mota".
I made a resolution never to be overweight again. I started brisk walking sessions and cut down on junk food. No burgers, no pizza,no samosas! I had sprouts for dinner every night for the next 3 months. Also cut down my calorie intake to half. One of my very good friends who is supremely fit told me " mate, it is not about eating less, it is about burning more calories than you intake. Go workout or play some sport." I didn't pay any heed and stuck to walking. There were nights when I couldn't sleep properly due to hunger, but I persisted. The results were great. I was 67 kg within 4 months. My next target was to maintain this weight for life.
Years passed and I never crossed 68 kgs. But somehow it didn't feel right. The same close friend joked about my bulging tummy one day and I realized that though I wasn't overweight, I wasn't fit either. Luckily within the same week Bhaag Milkha Bhaag happened.
It inspired me, helped me remove my mental block about running. I still remember my first day on the treadmill. I was out of breath and panting within 3 mins of jogging. After a jog-walk-jog-walk kinda workout for 30 mins when I stepped down the treadmill, the world around me was spinning and my legs were feeling like rubber. However I had managed to cover 2.75 kms and that gave me a high. Within the next few months cardio-workout regime every alternate day coupled with healthy food was the mantra. My weight was down to 63 and I was doing 3.75 kms in 30 mins when I quit the gym.
A year went by and I was back to 67 and back to my old ways when the office organized a mini marathon. We had to cover 3.5 kms and I saw an opportunity to get back to running. I finished the marathon in 30 mins, but by the time I crossed the finish line my heart was in my mouth and my chest was on fire.  I decided to make running a habit on that day. My close friend came 5th and I finished 51st in that race.
It's been a year since that day and due to regular practise, I can do 5 kms in 30 mins now. I eat what I want and am still able to maintain my fitness and weight. I run atleast twice a week, do weights atleast once a week and swim atleast twice  month.
The key to fitness is to beat your previous limits and strive for better every time you hit the road or the gym. It is also extremely important to find and inspiration that will keep you going. I am thankful to my good friends Nikhil and Vivek for being my inspiration.

The joy of networking

I suck at networking. It is a fact that I am not proud of, but I am comfortable with it. It takes a lot for me to step out from the comfort of my home to meet a friend. However there are times when I make exceptions.
When Shraddha expressed interest to meet Butts and me, I decided to go for it without any second thoughts. Powai, 7th may for lunch it was! After some online research, we zeroed in on Cafe Mangii. The menu looked good and the reviews were positive. Some back up options were also discussed, in case we didn’t get seats in Mangii. Butts also ensured that we reserve a table in advance, which we did.
I hitched a ride with Butts and we reached the place 10 minutes before time. Shraddha was running late, which wasn't a surprise. So in went the boys to checkout the ambience (crowd) and to kill time. First impressions weren’t great. The place was not well maintained, the china on our table was old and unclean and temperature in the restaurant was on the higher side (and this wasn’t due to to crowd ;)). Luckily, the table next to ours was occupied by two good looking ladies. During such times, Butts starts showing off. He started talking about water issues in India and the reasons behind the debacle. I too chipped in with few questions to keep the conversation going. By the look of it, the gals were getting impressed.
I didn’t want to drink alcohol during the day as I had another evening plan lined up. Butts decided to go for peach iced tea and I picked a cooler (before ordering I didn’t know why it was called she is a peach. It was a mix of peach, apricot, apple and orange). When the drinks arrived, it became evident why it was named so. I have never had such a sissy looking drink ever. To make it worse it tasted like shit. To top that up, the ladies seemed no longer interested in us (a guy having tall, slender, decorated glasses with orangish pink liquid isn’t exactly what a girl desires). Butts’s iced tea was not good as well and we started having second thoughts about the place. This is when Shraddha walked in. She looked gorgeous and fit at the same time, which I feel is an extremely difficult thing to pull off! Pleasantries were exchanged and after another disappointing drink, we decided to move out of Cafe Mangii. Its time they named it Cafe Bhangii.
Shraddha suggested Pizza Express which was close by and we were there within 10 minutes. We ordered two salads and one pizza (Butts took 15 minutes to select the pizza, and I made a mental note to use this sometime later). The food arrived quickly and disappeared even faster. The salads were great and the pizza was fantastic. Our conversations were hovering around current lifestyles, job schedules, responsibilities and chores. Everyone seemed to be in the same boat w.r.t. professional lives. We had jobs that were paying us well, but the sense of accomplishment was missing from our professional lives. Soon we started discussing folks from college. Shraddha started taking names of random folks and I was at a loss of words as I didn’t even recollect most of them. She seemed well connected to many people and had managed to stay in touch with them over Facebook. Butts recollected all the girls that Shard named and it for me this wasn’t a surprise. Butts has always been a ladies man and has a long list of admirers (some of them imaginary though) from college.
We discussed college events, fun incidents, professors and the gala time we had during college. I could sense discomfort as both of them tried not to steer the conversations towards a specific person. That is what good friends do, they lookout for you, but its been a long time and I am OK with it.
The discussions actually brought forth tons of memories that were locked up in the deep corners of my mind which I thought I had forgotten about. That is what such meetings with close friends do. They help you reconnect  with your past. And there is so much joy in doing so. We laughed a lot, gossiped and also did the usual gyaan throwing at each other. It was as if, we were back in college and life was only about fun. Where the worries were restricted to passing or failing in exams. Aah..such good times!

It amazes me the distance Shard has covered in the last 15 years. From a naive fresher in college to a successful professional and the mother of a child. The best part is that she hasn’t changed a bit in all these years. How difficult is that!

This is how I network. And believe me, there is so much joy in personal networking!

Facebook can kiss my ass.

The joy of listening

I have never been a man of few words..people will vouch for this for sure!

However of late I have discovered that there is so much joy in listening!! Guess who taught me this... my son :)

Silly things

I have noticed that the greatest pleasures of life are many times linked to the silliest of things around you. Or maybe I am built like that...my sense of humor is a tad different from the folks around me..

I like to imitate people. This gives me the power to notice things about people which no one else does. I love it when a person around me pronounces "list" as "leest" or "promotion" as "parmotion"when I am expecting it. This is my way of finding happiness amidst chaos. This is the fuel that keeps me running.

Many folks in office are puzzled when I have a smile on my face during meetings :):)..now you know why!!

Try it.. it is fun!!

If I have to spend time with donkeys everyday, what is the probability that I will soon become a donkey myself?

Kishan Shah..

True story...happened to one of my wife's friends.

One day while in office someone approached her and asked" Madam, do you know where I can find Kishan Shah?"
She smiled and said..."Yes, tell me.. I am Cresenthia."

I would give anything to go back in time and checkout the look on the face of that gentleman :)

Us or them?

We pride over the fact that unlike the other employees in our office, we give 110% attention to our work.

We are ready to miss birthdays, anniversaries, festivals and other important occasions whenever duty calls.

There are others who take leave to attend the smallest of events like their child's school event, or their neighbors birthday party.

Sometimes I wonder who is right? Us or them?

Lesson learnt?

Two years back my brother taught me that there is more to life than worrying over the day to day silly things that we come across.. He taught this to me the hard way and I made a promise to myself that I will change...for the good.
Here I am twenty six months later the same old ass that I was.

Moral of the story: An ass remains an ass...no matter what.

girti deewaron ke aanchal mein zinda hoon...

bajay pyaar ki shabnum mere gulistaan mein
baraste rehte hain har simt maut ke saye
siyahiyon se ulajh padti hain meri aankhein
koi nahi .. koi bhi nahi jo batlaye
kitni der ujalon ki raah dekhe
koi nahi hai koi bhi nahi
na pass na durr
yeh pyaar hai
dil ki dharkan
apni chahat ka jo ellan kiye jaati hai
zindagi hai jo jiye jaati hai
khoon k ghoont peay jaati hai
khwaab aankhon se siye jaati hai

ab na koi paas hai
phir bhi ehsaas hai
yahiaon mai uljhi padi
jeene ki ek aas hai
yadoon ka jungle yeh dil
kaanton se jal thal yeh dil

chubtay kaanten yadoon ke daaman se chunta hoon
girti deewaron ke aanchal mein zinda hoon

bajay pyaar ki shabnum mere gulistaan mein
baraste rehte hain har simt maut ke saye
siyahiyon se ulajh padti hain meri aankhein
koi nahi .. koi bhi nahi jo batlaye
